UN Global Pulse is the Secretary-General’s initiative on big data and artificial intelligence for development, humanitarian action, and peace. The initiative works through a network of innovation labs, called Pulse Labs, which operate in Jakarta, Indonesia, Kampala, Uganda, and in New York at the UN Headquarters. Global Pulse envisions a world in which the emerging power of big data and artificial intelligence can be harnessed, safely and responsibly, for the public good. JFI’s Digital Ethics team is supporting Global Pulse in their AI and Data governance work in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular emphasis on nations in Africa.
